English culture lessons
Learning english traditions
The idea is to introduce students not only to grammar, vocabulary and phonetics, but also to cultural aspects of English-speaking countries, such as traditional food and drink (brunch, cookies, cupcakes, milkshakes, smoothies), types of housing, places where English is spoken, hobbies and leisure activities, prices in dollars and pounds, pets, social relationships, customs and typical celebrations of Anglo-Saxon culture (Halloween, Black Friday, Santa Claus & Christmas, Easter, St. George's Day, May Day), British timetables and signposting (road safety), names of different places and monuments in the UK, the rules of politeness, the use of certain expressions more than others in different contexts, etc.

💡 At the end of the activities, it is important to carry out a survey through Kahoot program to check the knowledge acquired. I also advise explaining each event in class close to the date of the event.
Hi, Nereida. It's a great idea to introduce the cultural aspect in the English lessons. I had not thought of it. I have read the article about "brunch" and Ifound it very interesting. I didn't know the origin of this habit and it seems controversial.
